Last Saturday was the “Big Send.” That was the day all the Vote Forward handwritten, Get-Out-The-Vote letters went into the mail. The campaign’s original goal of 10 million letters was quickly reached, so another 5 million was added on.
I wrote 120 letters to voters in Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. I hand printed why -I vote in every election because…”I want a voice in determining who will make those important decisions that will affect all of our lives.” I invited each individual to add their voices in this most important election, and to make a plan to vote “safely.”
I decorated each envelope with colored markers and flashy gold spirals. so it will catch someone’s eye if it’s gets buried in the junk mail.
Statistically, Vote Forward claims an increase of 3% in voter turnout with these handwritten letter campaigns. So 15 million letters could generate up to 450,000 more votes. I’d say that’s worth the effort. Heck, it’s definitely worth a try.
There were 145,095 of us letter writing volunteers behind this Big Send. That would average 103 letters per volunteer. Could it be that you were also writing along with me?
Hey, for the future of the US Postal Service, AND for all that we hold dear, we must do whatever we can to change the current trajectory of our government.
Lastly, if you haven’t voted already, please make a plan to vote, early if possible, and get all your friends and family to vote with you. This election will determine the future of America. If you need information about voting in your area, please go to https://www.vote.org/
Thank You!
