Letters with a Cause

July 19, 2021 By Carol

Hello Reader– Let me preface this post by saying -everything seems to have political implications these days, whether we like it or not. And for that reason, voting has become sacred. Presently, our right to vote is being targeted and even suppressed. You deserve the right to vote, regardless of your party affiliation,  With that said, I want to introduce you to Vote Forward’s latest letter writing campaign to send letters to Virginia voters.

Basically, these letters encourage Virginia voters to go to the polls this November. It’s all about voting and giving information on how to obtain a ballot, where the polling places are, and making a plan to vote. Why Virginia? Well, the “Old Dominion State” is a bellwether for the midterm elections. Getting as high a turnout as possible gives us a stronger voice in what direction our government will take us next year.

This “letters with a cause campaign” offers us an opportunity to become politically engaged without taking sides. You handwrite a statement beginning with why “I vote in every election…” I go further and remind the voter how the ballot is our chance to express our voice. And everyone’s voice matters.

So, if you would like to join the effort, Vote Forward has a goal set for 1.5 million letters to be mailed to Virginia by September 18th, 2021. You could have some patriotic fun and get a letter writing party together. (See sample email below.)

Click on the link below and adopt some voters to get started. You can begin with as few as five voters.

P.S. As of today, 250.000 letter have been prepared! Thus far, I’ve prepared 45 letters.

Sample letter to your friends to invite them to join you in a letter writing party…

I’m writing letters to Virginia voters with Vote Forward. Can you join me?

Hello!

I’m writing letters with Vote Forward to encourage Virginia voters to cast ballots this fall. On November 2, Virginia voters will choose their next governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general, as well as members of the House of Delegates and local officials.

You may be wondering: Why Virginia? Why now? Why are you emailing me about writing letters to Virginia voters?

Virginia’s odd-year elections tend to serve as a bellwether for the midterm elections, so, with an eye toward 2022, it’s important to encourage as many Virginia voters as possible to cast ballots in 2021.

Won’t you please join me and write letters to Virginia voters? Once I know how many friends and family members will be writing letters, I’ll be in touch about a group challenge. If you have questions, let me know. If you’re ready to sign up with Vote Forward, it’s easy to do. Just visit votefwd.org.

Thank you,
[YOUR NAME]

P.S. Vote Forward is a nonprofit organization that builds online tools and empowers grassroots volunteers like me to encourage fellow citizens in underrepresented communities to vote. And Vote Forward has proven that these letters work to mobilize voters and increase voter turnout.
