Dear Reader, Speaking of pens, here is one that could capture headlines. Housed in the archives of the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University, it gets little notice. A friend who has access to the “bowels of the Beinecke” took these photos for this exclusive view of the very pen that Lincoln used to sign the Emancipation Proclamation. And alongside it, there is the original pen case that is at least 160 years old.
