We the People Business

Hello My Dear Readers, First, I want to say “thanks” to my new subscribers, and to my ever loyal friends, as well. I am amazed and grateful for all your support. I hope my content will inspire you to keep your pens always handy.

Now, let me explain what I’ve been up to. “The revolution has a lot of homework,” is my bumper sticker mantra. This current moment which we are living through is terrifying and paralyzing to witness. Yet, I can only survive by taking action. I get up each day with a list of purposeful actions. I check in with my most trusted sources for news. I look for notices of rallies, wins, and whatever positives I can repost on multiple Facebook groups. My intention is to educate and uplift those who are looking for some good news or an action to take. I intentionally avoid spreading fear. I sign up for trainings, webinars, and Zoom conferences to learn what is actually happening, and how best to cope.

Thank you’s

Then, there are my thank you notes to legislators, judges, academics, whomever I find is showing courage and setting an example for resistance.

The saying goes, “When they go low, we go local.” So, I am deeply committed to the reelection of my town’s mayor. She is an honest geek, with a degree in marine engineering. She’s a solid leader, one that I trust will weather the coming storm with the ship intact! The mayor has 5 primary opponents, at last count. Mis- and disinformation has become a town wide virus. I attempt to put out fires daily on the internet, but it is hard to counter all the lies people are spreading. Truth matters.

The mayor asked me to write thank you notes to her contributors. That action comforts me.

Ann & Garth

We, a handful of like-minded women, formed a local chapter of Red, Wine and Blue/ Trouble Nation. “Women Warriors Resist” is our name. We go to all the major protests. On Mother’s Day, a gal began a solo protest in front of the Old Town Hall, three of us joined her. Then, 3 more showed up that same day. All the grateful honking made us decide to return again every Sunday for a few hours. Last Sunday, a fellow showed up dressed as a 1776 patriot. Even the mayor showed up for an hour. Right now, we are just a few, but I am sure our numbers will grow.

Tracy, Lauren-the Mayor, Carol & Garth

Every Sunday, V Day in Hartford, No Kings Day on June 14th, the 4th of July- lots of protests coming up. Lots of poster making to fill my waking hours. Lots of homework with the Revolution. Small actions build courage. I hope that you will join me wherever you are in taking action. We are stronger together. In Governor Pritzner’s words, “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption, but I am now.”
