Dear Reader…I apologize for my long absence in posting here. My activism has taken center stage. Long story short, we lost the primary campaign for a young progressive governor and it grieves me to have to wait another 4 years for change. Still, there are only 73 days left till the midterms. So now, I am working on voter registration.
That is not to say that I am not also writing to friends, when possible, writing “Postcards to Swing States,” writing thank you notes to politicians, judges, and my lawyer for maintaining the rule of law and upholding the Constitution. Writing in my journal, writing my lists, writing by hand…whenever I can.
Naturally, I have strong opinions against Artificial Intelligence and the accompanying data centers that incubates that mess. I do not like how the technology finishes my sentences or offers me paragraphs that are not my words. And from what I’ve read, most people hate AI, too.
However, the good news is CURSIVE IS MAKING A COMEBACK!!! Kids don’t remember what they wrote on the keyboard as well as with a pen in hand. And, kids definitely don’t remember what AI wrote for them. The value of human handwriting is being rediscovered. Fine motor skills, memory retention, the ability to think and concentrate. After 20 years of pushing technology first in our schools and everywhere in our lives, handwriting is having a renaissance.
I will repost supportive articles that I find to cheer us as we fight the strong drive of AI towards mediocrity and lack of individual self expression. Fight back. Pick up a pen!
