Today we commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. His words, his dream of a better world with an end to poverty and racism, and his belief in non-violent protest even in the face of violence -all of these are as alive today as they were in the 1960’s!
The “Poor People’s Campaign” is still struggling, only now it’s global and with a new name: “Occupy Wall Street!” I can’t help but imagine how proud and “wowed” Martin Luther King Jr. would be to see the extent of this movement which includes all ethnic groups and blurs geographical boundaries.
Today ” members of the African-American faith community have joined forces with Occupy Wall Street to launch a new campaign for economic justice inspired by the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” –http://www.occupythedream.org/
