In a local newspaper, I learned about another passionate letter writer, Hannah Brencher. Just 24 years old, Hannah stands out from the digital crowd with her campaign to encourage more love letters.
She was prompted to reach out to others with love letters in an attempt to overcome her own sadness. Hannah would leave these anonymous letters of love and encouragement on park benches, “in coffee shops, the UN, in coat pockets” all around New York City.
Then, Hannah wrote on her blog that she would personally answer anyone who needed a love letter, and the response was overwhelming. After some notable recognition and much enthusiasm, Hannah’s campaign has attracted “a base of 10,000 people ready to write letters.”
To spread good cheer, Hannah is offering a “12 Day Letter Writing Extravaganza,” which I am most happy to shout about.
Here are some details from Hannah…
“From December 3-14, The World Needs More Love Letters is rolling out its biggest, grandest, love letter writing campaign and we want you to be penning alongside us every step of the way.
We are asking bloggers, campus groups, teams and supporters to commit to our 12-day letter writing extravaganza! That’s right… 12 days. 12 love letter requests. And a whole lot of holiday love.”
