Gift Ideas: Carol’s picks

One passionate letter writer I met told me that she always makes a gift of thank you notes.  Isn’t that a WONDERFUL idea?  One always has good reason to be grateful for some kindness.  Perhaps you need to thank the person, people who cooked that delicious  meal you enjoyed yesterday.

Thank you notes are available everywhere, but just to get you started- check out the great variety Paper Source offers-

Now another item I have to recommend is this mail organizer. I purchased one for myself  to help me keep track of my mail in & mail out.   It comes in maple or walnut finish.  I love mine. And you can hang it on the wall or place it on your desk.

This Postscript Scarf is very lovely. I’ve given away several of these beautiful scarves to dear friends.

I am still enamored with these 7 year pens. They come in amazing colors, and the black ink from the ballpoint replaceable cartridge is smooth and consistent. Go to www.seltzergoods.com/the-seven-year-pen-c-21.html?page=2&sort=4a

And now for my favorite books!  I must begin with Margaret Shepherd’s trusty standbys:

The Art of the Handwritten Note, and The Art of Personal Letter. These books carry the standard for grace, eloquence, and humor in all written and personal letter writing. They belong on every letter writer’s shelf.
Available at amazon.com

Kitty Burns Florey’s books:
Script & Scribble- The Rise and Fall of Handwriting–
is a wonderful journey through the history of written communication.
And her latest, The Writing Master is a historical fiction with a mysterious twist  based on the life and times of a New Haven penman in the 1850’s .

Available at  amazon.com
