I love this mural. Not only is it a sensitively rendered likeness of Maya Angelou with a knowing expression, two of her “real quotes” frame her portrait, along with the some colorful local graffiti.
I can’t help but compare this labor of love with the stamp that the U.S.Postal service issued in the Spring. The postage stamp pales in comparison, would you not agree?
When I learned that the quote was not Maya’s, I was terribly disappointed. Even Mindful Magazine discovered the misquote debacle, and they listed it in their “mindless” column (see below).
