If you ever have doubts about the power of the written word, then I suggest you review Amnesty International’s Freedom Writers’ Campaign.
I have been a member of Amnesty International for many years. I have sent letters to foreign leaders, petitioning them to release a “prisoner of conscience.” Someone who simply took a photograph or made a statement against their government on behalf of human rights. Even folks who defend the environment are targeted.
Amnesty is relentless in their quest for human rights and justice. It is always joyful news to hear that someone they championed was pardoned and released.
Every December, Amnesty hosts their global “Write for Rights Campaign.” Letter writing can and does change lives. See the video below and become a believer. Sign up. Pick up your pen and join Amnesty International’s annual Write for Rights campaign which begins December 10, 2016.
