Memorial Day 2018
No one misses a fallen soldier more than the family. The grief of such a tragic loss is enormous. “Gold Star Children” are faced with more losses than a young life can possibly understand or handle.
Organizations have been created to help- Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), and The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. Every year TAPS’ National Military Survivor Seminar presents strageties to help grieving families cope. One of the tools offered is writing letters and journaling.
That is why “Letters to Heaven” are handwritten. Bayleigh Doster, a young woman who lost her Dad in 2005, explains that she came to understand her emotions after putting her feelings on paper. “Working on grief booklets, writing letters and sending them off tied to helium balloons means more than anyone will ever know.”- (NYT Memorial Day Letters)- See link below.
