Speaking of volunteering your penmanship to a cause, I recently offered to hand write postcards to voters for the local mayoral campaign.
The cards I worked on are addressed to the folks who live in apartments that are inaccessible to canvassers- knocking on doors. These neighbors are a serious voting block and they deserve time and attention.
And, since my letter writing business is slow to roll out, I decided to keep busy and help a new candidate get noticed. Lauren Garrett is running for mayor of Hamden, CT. She is honest, courageous, young and smart, and wants to solve problems not merely sweep them under the rug. I would like to see her fresh ideas take root in this stuffy old town. So, I’ve written 366 postcards for her campaign.
It is my hope that the personal touch and invitation to vote for Lauren will inspire the voter to give us a new mayor.
Fingers crossed!
