Dear Reader- Here we are days after the election and uncertainty still prevails. If you feel like doing something, I have a suggestion: Write a letter. As you know, letters are my passion. So, I’ve signed up to write letters to voters for that special runoff election in Georgia’s senatorial race.
VOTE FORWARD- began this Georgia campaign to increase voter turnout. They have tallied up a list of “infrequent voters” that can be adopted. You can adopt as few as 5 or as many as you’d like. The format is easy. You’ll need to download the address list and the form letter, then print them out. The letter is filled with useful information, like where their polling places are. It is nonpartisan, no candidates are ever mentioned. All YOU NEED TO HANDWRITE (print) IS- why you personally vote in every election.
The objective is that your handwritten words in a letter will inspire and motivate the recipient to get out and vote.
Vote Forward has proven that letters in the mail DO INCREASE VOTER TURNOUT. There are still thousands of Georgia voters available. You may mail your letters as soon as possible, but no later than November 29th.
This sure beats biting ones nails. And since we all enjoy writing letters, why not put your pen to paper to encourage fellow citizens to exercise their right to vote.
I have 30 letters to write. Won’t you join me? Thanks. -Carol
