For those of you who have lovely penmanship and are curious about what you might do other than start a business, here’s a suggestion. Volunteer to write thank you notes for your favorite charity! With the donations they receive, charitable organizations often hand-write a thank you note at some point during the year.
My friend, Lynda Barber, a lover of letters and all things postal, uses her playful script to thank donors. She explains-
“Did I tell you that the president of Feline & Friends (the group I hand write thank you notes for) told me that one donor was so impressed with my thank you note that she immediately sent in another check on top of the $50 she had sent earlier? That speaks volumes for handwriting, yes? I wrote 25 letters one day last week. It’s always a challenge as many of the donors are repeat gift givers so I have to come up with a fresh way to thank them. Sometimes I use a heart sticker in place of the word “heart” when I extend heartfelt thanks or I do a bubble from the cat’s mouth on the letterhead and tell the donor that he/she is the cat’s meow! Fun stuff.”
